WADE NAMED SMC V.P. OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Marcy Wade, who has had 23 years of experience in human resources, 10 of them at a community college, has been named vice president of human resources for Santa Monica College . She begins in her new post April 23.

Wade, of Inglewood , is currently the associate vice president of human resources at El Camino College in Torrance . She has been in that position since May 2006, serving before that as director and assistant director of human resources.

“We're very excited that Ms. Wade will be leading the area that oversees SMC's biggest asset – its people,” said SMC President Dr. Chui L. Tsang. “She impressed the hiring committee with her experience and ability to communicate with employees.”

Aside from her experience at El Camino, Wade has served in human resources and personnel positions at the City of Manhattan Beach , the California State University Chancellor's Office in Long Beach , and Security Pacific Auto Finance Corporate Headquarters in Westlake Village .

She has also been a flight attendant with Western Airlines, and an assistant buyer with Bullock's department stores, and bank operations manager with Security Pacific Bank.

Wade has been active in a number of professional and service organizations, including the Association of California Community College Administrators (she currently serves as a board member), the Association of Chief Human Resources Officers/Equal Employment Officers, and Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc. (she currently serves as a national board member). She also does volunteer work through her church, St. Bernadette in Los Angeles .

A native of Los Angeles , she received her bachelor's degree in communication studies from UCLA and a master of public administration degree from California State University at Dominguez Hills.

She has two children, Kimberly Aparicio and Marcus Wade, an El Camino College student and U.S. Marine Corps reservist.

“I am so excited about this new opportunity to serve at Santa Monica College ,” Wade said. “I know that SMC has an excellent reputation, and it's doing so much in the community. I'm looking forward to being a member of the Santa Monica College community and making significant contributions to the college.”
