SMC Articulation Agreements

Articulation is the planned process linking together two educational institutions to help students make a smooth transition—without experiencing a delay or duplication of coursework—from the community college to the four-year college or university. Santa Monica College has articulation agreements with a variety of institutions of higher education. Students planning to transfer from Santa Monica College to a UC or CSU campus can find articulation information online (go to or to or in person at the Transfer/Counseling Center. ASSIST ( is a database that contains information on lower-division major requirements and general education requirements and their equivalent at the Community College.

Santa Monica College also has articulation and transfer agreements with a variety of private, out-of-state, and international institutions. These agreements can contain general education requirements, lower-division major requirements, or both.
